Alfonso López Baz and Javier Calleja worked together from 1971 under the name López Baz y Calleja, and in 1987 they consolidated their practice as Grupo LBC Arquitectos. Both studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where they earned their degrees in 1971.
Throughout their careers, they were professors and lecturers at numerous universities in Mexico and abroad, one of their most recent presentations being at Roma Tre University in Rome. Their work was also featured in numerous national and international exhibitions, including one of their last presentations in Paris.
In 2020, architect Javier Calleja, a fundamental figure in the history and consolidation of the firm, passed away. His legacy remains an essential part of the identity, vision, and architectural rigor that distinguish Grupo LBC.

Currently, Grupo LBC continues its work and development, adhering to the philosophy of excellence, spatial sensitivity, and innovation that has defined its trajectory. Over the years, the firm has designed projects of diverse nature, including housing, offices, interior architecture, and spaces dedicated to culture and recreation. To achieve this, it has integrated interdisciplinary teams of specialists in various fields, such as industrial design, metalworking, theatrical mechanics, specialized lighting, furniture design, acoustics, and other complementary disciplines.
In recent years, Grupo LBC has been distinguished with numerous national and international awards and recognitions, including 7 first prizes and more than 10 honorable mentions at the National Architecture Biennials, 2 national interior design awards, 3 Design Icons awards granted by Architectural Digest magazine, as well as publications in more than 250 books and magazines worldwide.
